Thalmor Deserter

(Anonymous)
I want a story about a Thalmor who deserts the Aldmeri Dominion for any reason you like, and how the people of Skyrim react to them.

Completely seconding (and bookmarking for the future)

Any squicks? I'm working on something right now but it's rather violent in some places so I was wondering if that was okay.

A Minifill

(Anonymous)

The Stormcloaks were watching him warily, crowded by the door of his tower, and he felt, suddenly, like he was being surrounded by wolves.

"It's you then," said the old one wearing the bearskin. "You that's been raising the dead."

Nevarre stepped back, because he was a little nervous but also because he didn't like looking directly down at people. It made his neck hurt after a while and tended to give the wrong impression.

"Only experimentally," he said, and knew immediately that was the wrong response. The old one's frown deepened and from the assembled fighters behind him there was something like a muffled gasp.

"They weren't going to hurt anyone, honest, it was an academic exercise,' he rushed on, flipping his his long, dark curtain of hair back behind his shoulder. It was something he did when he was nervous but it tended to make him look conceited, and he winced inside as the old one's eyes narrowed in contempt.

"Dishonoring our dead," he growled. "Is there nothing you damn elves will let us hold sacred?"

"Please don't address me as a collective. I didn't take anything from the tombs. The dead in there were already walking. I used the corpses of some adventurers that were lying around." He smiled. No one smiled back. There was a metallic chink of someone loosening a sword in it's sheath.

"You should have left them where you found them, or given them a decent burial, not trapped their souls and let them wander the woods and frighten the townspeople," the old Nord growled.

"I did bury them, afterward. I didn't mean for them to get loose." He'd broken a nail doing it, too. He looked at it, still bloody and jagged, and rubbed it clean on the front of his robe. "Are we quite done? I'm not going to hurt anyone and I'm in the middle of some rather delicate...research."

"That's not the only thing the villagers complained of. The statue of Talos by the mountain pass has been robbed and demolished. By magical fire. Maybe you could shed some light on that, magician."

"I'm a conjurer, not a petty vandal. Besides, I've got no quarrel with Talos worshippers. Not that I personally worship Talos, mind," he added hastily. "But I've always thought it was idiotic, the way the Thalmor denied his presence. When you pray at a shrine of Talos you are blessed by some God. Denying the presence of Talos is like denying the presence of something else readily apparent, like a tree or a table."

"Hmph. An interesting viewpoint from one who was known to be one who counted himself among the ranks of the Thalmor. Nevarre of house Farinvel. Do you think it's so easy to hide when you're damn near the only Altmer on Nirn with black hair down to his arse?"

"I got tired of them. They promised to teach me magics but didn't really, they wanted me to divine the contents of prisoners' minds and go to political functions as a symbol to dissenters that the Thalmor were willing to accept even those Altmer who don't measure up to breeding standard. I wasn't about to be paraded like a damn show animal or someone's pet Bosmer. So I left."

"You keep woodelves as pets?" This from a youngish blonde man with wide blue eyes like a calf and a braid on one side of his hair. Cute.

"Shut up, Ralof," the old man growled, which only made Nevarre want to answer the question.

"Not me, personally, and not just Bosmer. But some people like to keep some pretty, interesting thing on a chain, especially if it's got lots of tattoos, and piercings in unusual places. Some people prefer Argonians or Khajit. I prefer to be alone. As if other people aren't insufferable enough, dragging one around with you at all times? Gods."

The Nords, except Ralof, largely ignored this and were standing in a small group, conferring.

"Right now I don't see a real reason to kill you," Galmar decided, turning for the door. "But watch yourself, sorcerer, or that might change."

The door closed behind them. "Morons," he muttered, and went back upstairs to his bedchambers where Aicantar lay, naked and waiting for him.

HA! That's one way to end an argument.

"S'cuse me but I've got a hunk of elf ass waiting for me."
